Towards the western end of the Mediterranean, the Fethiye region which Kayakoy belongs to is mainly known for summer-beach-holidays. However, it has many advantages during the Fall season, especially in terms of weather and time it takes to get around the town Centre.
With this post I invite you to for a small ride through the autumn in Kayakoy.
Welcomely warm
Compared to the Northern Climates it is still delightfully warm in Kayakoy during autumn, even end of November.
There are wonderful bright mornings and more often than not, dramatic sunsets with a lot of sunshine in between.
There is so much someone can do during this period of the year starting from enjoying the outdoors by hiking, cycling, swimming in the sea, and so on.
Off course it is more than fine to just relax on your terrace and enjoy the autumn sun. It is a really wonderful season. However, the nights are cool and a storm can occur in the meantime. Keep an eye on the weather forecast.
Lanscape – Vegetetion
Beautiful flowers emerge from the soil and the landscape gets much greener, gets more colorful in general. Sensational varieties of flowers can be found here in autumn, especially in October to mid-November.
The beautiful formation from white clouds and deep blue sky gives a particular flavor to the sceneries surrounding you. For nature-lovers, this is really something to experience here.
Beaches
Nice, quiet and almost empty most of the time. On Sundays Gemiler beach in Kayakoy can get a little bit busy but will never fill up. The rest of the week the beach will “belong to you”. The same applys to other beaches like Oludeniz, Kidrak and Calis Beach. Though, Kidrak beach might be a little cooler than the rest.
Mellow fruitfulness
A multitude of fruit trees do not just decorate the area, but provide you with perfume scent of nature. The variety is abundant; you will find from juicy pomegranates, lemons, perfumed, quinces, and so on.
The local markets provide an abundance of seasonal products.
Hiking and Exploring
Based on the sunny weather you get most of the time, and the moderately warm temperature during the day time, autumn is one of the best times for hiking and exploring the refreshed country side.
Kayakoy is a perfect place for walking, and make sure you get to explore as much as you can. This former blog post gives you an example of one of the hiking options you have: Hiking from Eden-Villas to Oludeniz-beach.
Whatever you plan on a last minute basis, always keep in mind that the autumn on the Lycian Coast will be very rewarding with you.
I wish you a wonderful day
Oliver
